ROOTS THAT RUN DEEP
Zarate was created to pay homage to my Filipino roots and the humble beginnings that shaped my life. Long before entering professional U.S. kitchens and bars, the journey began on Zarate Street in the Philippines inside my Lola’s (grandmother's) store.
Watching her bring an entire neighborhood together through food and drink, I learned the true meaning of hospitality. At a young age, under her watchful eye, I began mastering the craft of cooking and the art of taking care of people.
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES
I carried that foundational spirit with me to the United States. Driven by the diverse food cultures of NY, Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Hawaii, I eventually rooted myself in Atlanta’s dining scene.
I worked every position possible to hone my craft, but my Lola’s lessons always remained my compass. Today, Zarate continues to grow, sharing the rich warmth of island culture through every dish and drink we pour.
